Driven by the increased needs of proteomic bioinformatics tools, we have built a proteomic computing cluster (PCC). The PCC is supported by the Chancellor's Biosciences Core Facilities fund. The PCC aims to provide proteomic bioinformatics support and build a resource with the computing power met campus-wide users need for mass spectra database searching.

The PCC is equipped with 18 computing nodes, a local Ethernet system, a cluster rack and a storage box. The 18 computing nodes are built with dual AMD dual-core processors and 4GB memory. The storage contains 12 drives with 6TB capacity configured as RAID5. All computing nodes run with Fedora8 as OS and Protable Batch System (PBS) as job queuing system. State-of-the-art mass spectrometry database search tools, ProLuCid, OMSSA, and X!Tandem as well as protein databases are installed and configured for use in the cluster.

If you are interested in knowing more about the PCC service, please feel free to contact us. To obtain an account to access the cluster, please fill application form .
